There just something about border collies – they’re insanely intelligent, they’re compassionate, they’re loyal and doggonit are they fast.
I had the privilege to look after Willie for a few days. Willie is half border collie and he is the dog I grew up with later in childhood. R.I.P Oscar – early childhood dog.
Willie lives across town with my sister right now, but I still get to see him every now and them. And I always take him on runs when I do get to hang out with him.
Willie and I went on a few trail walks these past couple days, and at moments he took off like a bolt of lightning down the trail. So when I saw this video (below), I couldn’t help but think of Willie.
I’ve only ever had the opportunity to take Willie mountain biking one time, and he was just as fast (well… close) to the dog in this video. It’s crazy when you’re going 20-30 mph over roots and rocks and there’s a furry canine keeping up and in many cases outpacing you.
I think Willie needs to race the trail dog in the video. Here’s Willie in the dog park today. He’s 11-year-old old now, but he’s still got it.
